In Mexico City, the second Biennial of Art and Design UNAM 2020 “Pedir lo Imposible” (Demanding the impossible) was inaugurated on February 8th 2020 at the University Museum of Science and Arts. Rodrigo Olvera and Aitana Villamar, members of TRYSPACES Mexico, were selected for this art exhibition with their project Instituto Mexicano de Intersticiología. This interdisciplinary project brings together the methodologies of the natural, social and humanistic sciences around contemporary artistic practices; its objective is to study the liminal spaces between the living and the non-living.

The object of this project is to study the dam “Lago de Guadalupe,” located in the northwest of the metropolitan area of the Valley of Mexico. It is a space where exacerbated and precipitated urban growth occurs and where multiple actors converge and influence it. Thus, reflections arise on the landscape, territoriality, forms of life, survival and resistance, as well as the need for transversal views.

The exhibition will be open to the public until 28 March 2020.
