Frédérick Nadeau’s work focuses on emerging forms of political engagement in a context where the central institutions of modernity (universalism, rationalism, liberalism, nation states, representative democracy, etc.) are increasingly being challenged by actors across the political spectrum. His thesis focuses more specifically on an extreme right-wing movement in Quebec and analyses the paths of engagement and the modes of subjectivation of its activists. Ultimately, he seeks to understand how politics intertwine with everyday life and how individuals experience engagement beyond the formal public sphere.
In Montreal, he is involved in the TRYSPACES project and in the PLURADICAL research team. His work will continue as of 2019 at the Centre on Social Movement Studies (COSMOS) in Florence (Italy), where he will conduct a comparative study of the Italian and Quebec extreme right.
