PRESENTATION
This book is an empirical contribution to the study of urban youth cultures, mobilizing youth, mobilizing several Montreal voices. It is a look at the transition between two decades, on the passage to the 2020s.



DESCRIPTION
This book argues that urban environments and their cultures are challenging the very meaning and contours of the political process. Through ethnographies with racialized youth, urban farmers, “voluntary risk-takers,” skateboarders, and risk-takers, skateboarders, and student protesters, among others, the book theorizes among others, the book theorizes aesthetics as a form of political action that is increasingly in contemporary urban life. This interdisciplinary work, which brings together aspects of philosophy, critical geography political sociology, urban anthropology, urban studies, and cultural studies, examines the centrality cultural studies, examines the centrality of pleasure, warmth, aesthetics and bodily of bodily sensation in these young people’s experience of the world. Aesthetics explains how young people can concretely influence the political process through political process through disruptive behavior. Moving from a contemporary history of the city of Montreal since 1960 to an ethnographic description of the realities of urban youth in the city today, the book offers a different perspective on
political life.
